Mark Zampino
Keyboards, Lead Vocals, Guitars

Mark Zampino is the public affairs director of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CSCPA), a position he has held since 1982. As a result of his tenure, he has become a CPA by osmosis, hence his invitation to join The Accounting Crows on keyboards. A marketing type by inclination and training, it was he who coined the band's name upon hearing a disc jockey stutter when identifying the artist (those "other" Crows…) she had just played on the radio.

Mark is a native of Hartford and received his B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Hartford in 1981, where he is an adjunct faculty member.

Similar to the rest of the guys in the band, Mark writes and records original music, thanks in most part to today's unbelievable technology. He uses a variety of keyboards, samplers, synthesizers, and guitars, although his true love is his Hammond C-3 and GOFF-modified Leslie 145 speaker. Woof. He also favors Fender guitars and basses in pretty, effeminate pastel colors, Fender amps, and Marshall cabinets.

Mark lives in Cromwell with his lovely bride Donna and two budding musician sons, Geoff (drums) and Daniel (whatever's handy). Mark has recorded music with Geoff and Dan under the moniker "ZZ Slop" including a groovy cover of Pink Floyd's "Green is the Colour" that is currently available on the international Pink Floyd tribute "Return of the Sons of Neptune" and available for free download at The song features Dan on Fender bass, Geoff on Rogers drums and Sabian cymbals, and Mark on guitars and vocals. You'll swear it's 1970.

Equipment-related Historical Trivia:

First keyboard: Farfisa Combo Compact Deluxe (wish I still had it!)
Second Keyboard: Hohner Pianet N (traded the Farfisa for it!)
First Synthesizer: MOOG satellite (sold it, like a dummy!)
First Amp: Pre-CBS Blackface Fender Bassman with 2-12" cabinet, mint (sold it to buy something more powerful, now we're talking REAL stupidity!)
First Bass Guitar: Gibson EB-0 (traded it for my first Leslie speaker; all it did was vibrate the room in tune)
First Guitar: 1974 Fender Stratocaster (traded it for a bitchin' American Tele in Vintage White!)
